Is RCB up for sale?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is currently owned by United Spirits Limited (USL), a subsidiary of British multinational Diageo Plc. Prathamesh Mishra serves as the Chairman of RCB and Chief Commercial Officer at Diageo India, overseeing the franchise's operations with a strong corporate backing. The IPL franchise, which won its maiden title in 2025, is now reportedly up for sale as Diageo intends to remove RCB from its balance sheet and seek potential buyers, according to former IPL chief Lalit Modi.

The celebrations following RCB's historic IPL victory were marred by tragedy when a stampede occurred outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during the trophy parade, resulting in 11 deaths and over 30 injuries. This tragic incident has added a somber dimension to the franchise's landmark year and has been blamed on mismanagement by the organizers, including RCB and local authorities. The franchise's future ownership change comes amid this backdrop of both triumph and tragedy.
